Philologus has been composing puzzles for BibleQuizzes.org.uk since 2005 and takes his pseudonym from the Christian to whom Paul sent greetings (Romans 16:15). The name Philologus comes from two Greek words, philos and logos, which etymologically means "love of word", reflecting the composer's love for the Word of God. He has published several puzzles online and offline, and syndicated work can also be found at Church Mouse Publications.
Little is known about the Philologus (fi-lol'-o-gus) of the Bible, a Roman Christian, coupled with the name Julia who was likely to be his wife or sister. Philologus and those united with him in this salutation formed by themselves one of the "house churches" or groups in the Christian community.
